Saline Fiddlers Host Trivia Night Fundraiser, March 11, 2023

 

Here is a great way to have a fun game night and support the Saline Fiddlers.   Everyone Welcome!  Trivia games, cash bar, appetizers, live music from the Fiddlers, amazing silent auction items up for grabs!

Saline Fiddlers to Host Jake Blount Fiddle and Banjo Workshops

WHEN:  March 19, 2023. 3-6PM

WHERE: Saline High School Performing Arts Center,

WHAT: Jake will teach “hands-on” workshops for fiddle & banjo.
    3 :00 – 4:15 Fiddle workshop
    4:15 – 4:30 A verbal presentation by Jake 4:30 – 4:45 Break
    4:45 – 6:00 Banjo workshop

Saline Fiddlers 2022 Hometown Show Date and Location

The Saline Fiddlers have announced the date and location of their 2022 Hometown Show;  April 9th at Ellen Ewing Performing Arts Center at Saline High School.  Additional details, such as time, ticket info, and guest artist will be posted here, and on the Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic Facebook page as it becomes available.

 

 

Saline Fiddlers Recording a New Album for April 2022 Release

We are looking forward to the release of our full-length biennial album called “All Together Now.” During the height of the pandemic, three small groups worked virtually and in person on their own selected pieces. Students practiced and arranged these tunes specifically for the album when they could be ‘together again.’ These tracks include Calypso Jam, Roadhouse Set, Before I Go, and Devil Went Down to Georgia. The album will be released in time for our April 9, 2022 Hometown Show.”

Sarah Vaujin Named as New Artistic Director for Saline Fiddlers

Announcement! The Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic are excited to announce the appointment of their new Artistic Director, Sarah Vaujin! Sarah has been involved with the fiddling groups in Saline for twelve years, starting in high school with Fiddlers ReStrung. After high school she returned as an intern for ReStrung, and became an Assistant Artistic Director for Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic. She earned her degree in Music Education from Eastern Michigan University and teaches music in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. We are thrilled to welcome Sarah into the role of Artistic Director!
Ashley Grebe was recently welcomed onto the Saline Fiddlers Board and is excited to continue working with SFP in a new role!

Saline Fiddlers to Resume Live Performances.

Live performances are back, and audiences are eager to see the Fiddlers again, in person. The outdoor performing season kicks off in a big way with a Hometown Show at Hornet Stadium in Saline on June 26.  The group will then launch their “On The Road Again” tour through Northern Michigan July 3-9.  They will follow that up by returning to performing at some of their favorite summer venues across the state.  Here is where you can see the Saline Fiddlers live this summer, 2021.  (For more detail on times and locations, follow the Saline Fiddlers’ Philharmonic on Facebook)!

Saline Fiddlers to Perform with the Dexter Community Orchestra March 1st

FIDDLING WITH THE DCO – PRESS RELEASE (JANUARY 24, 2020)

               Get ready for an afternoon of toe-tappin’, knee-slappin’ music! The popular Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic will join the Dexter Community Orchestra for its late-winter concert “Fiddling with the DCO” Sunday, March 1 at 4 pm,  at Dexter High School Center for the Performing Arts.

               The concert will feature two Western-themed pieces by American composers William Grant Still and Aaron Copland. Still’s “The Far West” is inspired by Mexican and Navajo folk music, while Copland’s “Rodeo” presents a boisterous sonic impression of bronco-busting cowboys who cut lose for an old-fashioned hoedown.

               The Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic will join the orchestra for a number of favorites, including “Orange Blossom Special” and “The Devil went Down to Georgia”.

               For more than 25 years, the Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic, composed of talented teen musicians from Saline High School, has wowed audiences around the world with its trademark mix of western swing, bluegrass, jazz, Celtic, and folk melodies. They have performed at the White House, Washington DC’s Kennedy Center, and at the State of Michigan Inaugural Ball, as well as in Canada, Germany, and Wales.

               Tell your friends, bring the entire family – this will be an unforgettable concert! Come early to get good seats. No tickets are required; DCO concerts are free, although donations at the door are gratefully accepted.
